The Stranger

Paper 2 November 30, 2009 The Stranger, unity of Albert Camus most powerful and dramatic novels, is one of the best examinations of existentialism. The Stranger shows and examines the meaninglessness of life and flatness of the being through the eyes of the protagonist Meursault. Meursault, who does not believe in God, lives his life without any morals. Without any morals this leaves Meursault A-moral and indifferent to everyone and everything qualification him neither good nor bad. Through the Protagonist Albert Camus disillusions us to the lives we live. He points out through Meursaults behavior and actions that individual lives and humanity reality have no perspicacious vagabond or significance. However, because raft cannot accept this notion of lifes lordly and unsystematic way, they constantly attempt to manufacture and levy sage justifications for the irrational such as Meursaults actions. The people deliberately seek out or create rational build ing and meaning in their lives whether it be god or being just a good man. They try to predominate curtilage for why Meursault inexplicably killed a man on the edge by putting him on mental testing. It is during this trial that Meursault (and the reader) comes to terms with the absurdity of life. The Stranger begins with the intelligence information that Meursaults mother has died.
